Development of a Business Tourism Strategy for North Wales
North Wales is primarily a holiday destination but the local authorities are keen to diversify and grow other sectors which have potential to generate benefit. Business tourism is one such sector identified by the North Wales Economic Forum and we were asked to advise on how best to develop this.
The work included identifying business tourism venues across the region, reviewing current activity and markets, identifying market potential and drawing up a strategy and action plan for future development. Our recommendations covered marketing, market development, product development and organisational structures. We concluded that the best way forward was to establish a Business Tourism Group representing the key stakeholders to oversee the strategy for business tourism with much of the work spearheaded by a strengthened North Wales Conference Bureau.
