Integrated Quality Management (IQM) of Rural Tourism Destinations

A detailed consideration of good practice in quality management of rural tourism across the whole of the European Economic Area. 15 local case studies were examined ranging from a small community in Iceland and a French Nature Park to a Finnish farm network and an initiative to divert tourism interest to inland Crete. The study examined organisational structures, ways of involving businesses and local communities, setting and monitoring standards, using customer feedback and an analysis of environmental issues. The study was led by The Tourism Company, with input from German consultants FUTOUR and the ECOTRANS network.
