This DMP was prefaced by a review of the contribution tourism made to the local economy and a justification for the LEPís ongoing commitment to the sector as part of its economic development role. The plan focused on product and infrastructure developments and a new marketing approach based on the important local business tourism sector and the opportunities for rural recreation. Careful consideration was given to a new tourism partnership structure for the county involving the public, private and educational sectors. We worked with the Hertfordshire Tourism and Leisure Partnership, made up of representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, visitor attractions, accommodation providers, higher education establishments and the local authorities.
