Protected landscapes  (AONBs and National Parks), account for a third of the land area of South East England. We worked for 9 of these areas on a major project to develop holiday packages and experiences which are rooted in the special qualities of these areas and involve rural tourism enterprises which are signed up to a sustainable approach. This was the first stage of the project and involved collecting evidence which supported a funding bid to the Rural Development Programme administered by SEEDA.

UPDATE (Feb 2011): Responsibletravel.com, a UK-based travel agency that focuses on eco-holidays, has been appointed to take forward the project and bring new sustainable tourism packages to market.

UPDATE (Oct 2011) October 2011 saw the public launch of the campaign via a new web portal  Our Land. Visitors can use the website to find and book their next holiday, browsing specific regions and accommodation preferences or by viewing suggested itineraries themed around seasons and activities.
