Tourism Strategy for Oxford

Tourism Strategy for Oxford picture
Client: Oxford City Council
Date: 2008
Oxford is an iconic destination with a world-wide reputation largely based on the status of the University which also underpins its strong architectural character. It is also an attractive historic city in its own right, with beautiful buildings, a vibrant heritage and cultural offer, a major retail centre and a gateway to the Cotswolds and attractive rural hinterland. The Tourism Strategy, based on wide ranging consultation through surveys, interviews and workshops, provided a framework for investment by the Council and private sector in tourism, with a focus on increasing length of stay and spend in the City. It also linked Oxford to the wider hinterland and encouraged people to spend time in Oxfordshire and addresses issues of destination management. You can download a copy of the strategy here.
