Olivia Ruggles-Brise studied French and Spanish at the University of Edinburgh and, after spending time working in Mexico, gained a Masters in Tourism, Environment and Development from King’s College London. Her dissertation focussed on authenticity and the visitor experience in Swaziland, Southern Africa. Before joining The Tourism Company, Olivia worked for three years at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) where she was in charge of Policy & Communications. She was responsible for reports and analyses of global travel industry trends, European Union tourism policy, and other industry affairs such as aviation, corporate social responsibility and sustainability. She also wrote a series of recommendations for governments around the world, including Trinidad & Tobago, Romania and Namibia and managed the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, which promote responsible tourism around the world.
